ลายช่อแฮ - The Sacred Pattern of the Tiger Year

 “Cho Hae Motif – The Sacred Pattern of the Tiger Year” 

This textile pattern is inspired by Phra That Cho Hae, the sacred stupa of Phrae Province and the zodiac relic site for people born in the Year of the Tiger (Khǎan). Located on a hillside in Cho Hae Subdistrict, this revered stupa is not only an architectural marvel but also a spiritual beacon for the Lanna people. Pilgrims born under the Tiger sign believe that worshiping here brings protection and profound merit. The motif captures the ornamental details of the stupa and its surroundings — including elements from ancient doors, base carvings, and the flowing geometry of lantern processions around the temple.

The swirling lines represent devotion in motion, the eternal cycle of faith, and the sacred symmetry that surrounds the relic. Each thread is a prayer. Each form is a step in the walk of reverence.

ลวดลายนี้ได้แรงบันดาลใจจาก พระธาตุช่อแฮ พระธาตุเจดีย์เก่าแก่ที่ตั้งอยู่บนเนินเขาในตำบลช่อแฮ จังหวัดแพร่ พระธาตุแห่งนี้เป็น พระธาตุประจำปีเกิดปีขาล (เสือ) ตามความเชื่อของชาวล้านนา ผู้ใดเกิดปีขาล หากได้มานมัสการจะเป็นสิริมงคลยิ่ง ลวดลายในผืนผ้านี้ถ่ายทอดจาก ลายประดับสถาปัตยกรรมในวัด — เส้นสายที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์ของยอดเจดีย์ บานประตูโบราณ และลวดลายที่ล้อมรอบองค์พระธาตุ ลายเส้นหมุนวนรอบแกนกลาง สื่อถึงการเวียนเทียน การโคจรของชีวิต และ ความศรัทธาที่โอบล้อมพระธาตุ เส้นสายเหล่านี้ไม่ได้ถูกวาดขึ้นอย่างไร้เหตุผล หากเป็นดั่ง “ยันต์ศักดิ์สิทธิ์” ที่ชาวช่อแฮสืบต่อมาอย่างสงบและสง่างาม

• ลวดลายปลายแหลม 4 ทิศ – แทนยอดพระธาตุทั้ง 4 ด้าน และความคุ้มครองจากธรรมะ
   
• สีน้ำเงินเข้มของผืนผ้า – สื่อถึงพลังสงบเย็นของศรัทธา และความลึกล้ำของวัดเก่า

• Curved loops around the center – Represent the candlelit procession and cyclical journey of faith
   
• Pointed flourishes in four directions – Echo the stupa’s spires and spiritual guardianship
   
• Dark indigo base – Reflects the solemn serenity of devotion and the timeless aura of sacred space

 “Gable of Luang Pho To – Stillness Beyond Time” 

This textile pattern is inspired by the gable design of Wat Sung Men’s Viharn, home to Luang Pho To — a revered seated Buddha in the subduing Mara posture (Māravijaya), representing stillness, clarity, and inner strength.

The temple’s gable, crafted in traditional Lanna style, features upward curves that reach skyward — symbolizing spiritual ascent — and outward extensions that represent peaceful expansion. This motif transforms those architectural elements into a rhythmic floral pattern — “the blooming of faith” — expressing the serene yet powerful presence of Luang Pho To and the spiritual heritage of Sung Men. Each line in the pattern whispers of prayer, presence, and patience  a visual mantra born of stillness that transcends time.

 “ลายจั่วหลวงพ่อโต – สงบนิ่งเหนือกาลเวลา” 

ลวดลายผ้าผืนนี้ได้แรงบันดาลใจจาก หน้าจั่วของวิหารหลวงพ่อโต วัดสูงเม่น จังหวัดแพร่
หลวงพ่อโต เป็นพระประธานปางมารวิชัย องค์ใหญ่ งดงามและสงบนิ่ง — เป็นที่เคารพศรัทธาของชาวแพร่มาช้านาน หน้าจั่วของวิหาร คือศิลปะล้านนาแท้ มีความโค้งพุ่งขึ้นสู่ฟ้าและทอดยาวออกเป็นวงกลม สื่อถึงความสง่างามที่แฝงไว้ด้วยพลังภายใน ลวดลายบนผ้าผืนนี้นำเส้นสายของจั่วมาร้อยเรียงใหม่ จนกลายเป็น “ดอกไม้ศรัทธา” ที่เบ่งบานด้วยความมั่นคง

เปรียบเสมือนจิตใจของผู้ที่กราบไหว้หลวงพ่อโต — สงบ เย็น และแข็งแกร่งจากภายใน
ลวดลายนี้จึงไม่ใช่เพียงความงามทางสายตา แต่คือ บทสวดที่ถักด้วยเส้นด้าย และจิตวิญญาณของผืนแผ่นดิน
